Removal & Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Dodge Intrepid, 2003 Chrysler Intrepid, 2003 Chrysler Concorde, and 2003 Chrysler 300M. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Fuel pump inlet strainer is mounted on fuel pump module. Remove fuel pump module. See FUEL PUMP MODULE .
  2. Using a thin straight blade screwdriver, pry back locking tabs on fuel pump reservoir and remove fuel pump inlet strainer from fuel pump module. See Fig 1. Remove "O" ring from end of fuel pump module.
  3. To install, reverse removal procedure using NEW "O" ring. Lubricate "O" ring with engine oil before installing. Install "O" ring in fuel pump inlet strainer before installing fuel pump inlet strainer on fuel pump module.
  4. Ensure "O" ring sets evenly on inside of fuel pump inlet strainer. Ensure locking tabs on fuel pump module fully engage on fuel pump inlet strainer. Reinstall fuel pump module using proper procedure. See FUEL PUMP MODULE .
