VTSS Stays On Steady During Arming

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS. Unless instructed otherwise in test step, reconnect any disconnected connectors.
  1. Ensure hood is closed and properly aligned. Turn ignition off. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located on bottom of instrument panel, to left of brake pedal. See Figure. Turn ignition on and go to next step.
  2. Using scan tool, select BODY, THEFT ALARM, VTSS then INPUT/OUTPUT. Read HOOD AJAR SW status. If scan tool displays HOOD AJAR SW: CLOSED, leave scan tool connected and go to next step. If scan tool does not display HOOD AJAR SW: CLOSED, leave scan tool connected and go to step  8.
  3. Using scan tool, read VTSS DECKLID SECURITY SW status. If scan tool displays VTSS DECKLID SECURITY SW: PRESENT, turn ignition off, disconnect scan tool and go to next step. If scan tool does not display VTSS DECKLID SECURITY SW: PRESENT, turn ignition off, disconnect scan tool and go to step  10.
  4. Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) module connector. Using an ohmmeter, check resistance between ground and RKE module connector terminal No. 24, deck lid security switch sense circuit (Violet/Yellow wire). See Figure. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, leave RKE module connector disconnected and go to next step. If resistance is 10 ohms or more, leave RKE module connector disconnected and go to step  14.
  5. Using ohmmeter, check resistance between ground and RKE module connector terminal No. 23, hood ajar switch sense circuit (Brown/Tan wire). If resistance is less than 1000 ohms, leave RKE module connector disconnected and go to step  15. If resistance is 1000 ohms or more, leave RKE module connector disconnected and go to next step.
  6. Open hood. Disconnect hood ajar switch 2-pin connector. Using ohmmeter, check resistance between ground and RKE module connector terminal No. 23, hood ajar switch sense circuit (Brown/Tan wire). If resistance is less than 1000 ohms, repair Brown/Tan wire for short to ground. If resistance is 1000 ohms or more, leave RKE module connector disconnected and go to next step.
  7. Disconnect deck lid (trunk) security switch connector. Deck lid security switch is an integral part of deck lid key cylinder switch and is located behind deck lid lock cylinder. Connect a jumper wire between ground and deck lid security switch connector terminal No. 2, deck lid security switch sense circuit (Violet/Yellow wire). Using ohmmeter, check resistance between ground and RKE module connector terminal No. 24, deck lid security switch sense circuit (Violet/Yellow wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace RKE module. See REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY (RKE) MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open Violet/Yellow wire.
  8. Using scan tool, read VTSS DECKLID SECURITY SW status. If scan tool displays VTSS DECKLID SECURITY SW: PRESENT, turn ignition off, disconnect scan tool and go to next step. If scan tool does not display VTSS DECKLID SECURITY SW: PRESENT, turn ignition off, disconnect scan tool and go to step  10.
  9. Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) module connector. Using an ohmmeter, check resistance between ground and RKE module connector terminal No. 24, deck lid security switch sense circuit (Violet/Yellow wire). See Figure. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, leave RKE module connector disconnected and go to step  11. If resistance is 10 ohms or more, leave RKE module connector disconnected and go to step  14.
  10. Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) module connector. Using an ohmmeter, check resistance between ground and RKE module connector terminal No. 24, deck lid security switch sense circuit (Violet/Yellow wire). See Figure. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, leave RKE module connector disconnected and go to next step. If resistance is 10 ohms or more, leave RKE module connector disconnected and go to step  14.
  11. Ensure hood is closed and properly aligned. Using ohmmeter, check resistance between ground and RKE module connector terminal No. 23, hood ajar switch sense circuit (Brown/Tan wire). If resistance is less than 1000 ohms leave RKE module connector disconnected and go to step  15. If resistance is 1000 ohms or more, leave RKE module connector disconnected and go to next step.
  12. Open hood. Disconnect hood ajar switch 2-pin connector. Using ohmmeter, check resistance between ground and hood ajar switch connector terminal No. 1, hood ajar switch sense circuit (Brown/Tan wire). If resistance is less than 1000 ohms, repair Brown/Tan wire for short to ground. If resistance is 1000 ohms or more, leave RKE module connector disconnected and go to next step.
  13. Disconnect deck lid security switch 2-pin connector. Deck lid security switch is an integral part of deck lid key cylinder switch and is located behind deck lid lock cylinder. Using ohmmeter, check resistance between ground and deck lid security switch connector terminal No. 2, deck lid security switch sense circuit (Violet/Yellow wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace RKE module. See REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY (RKE) MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open Violet/Yellow wire.
  14. Ensure hood is closed and properly aligned. Using an ohmmeter, check resistance between ground and RKE module connector terminal No. 23, hood ajar switch sense circuit (Brown/Tan wire). If resistance is less than 1000 ohms, go to step  16. If resistance is 1000 ohms or more, leave RKE module connector disconnected and go to next step.
  15. Open hood. Disconnect hood ajar switch 2-pin connector. Using ohmmeter, check resistance between ground and hood ajar switch connector terminal No. 1, hood ajar switch sense circuit (Brown/Tan wire). If resistance is less than 1000 ohms, repair Brown/Tan wire for short to ground. If resistance is 1000 ohms or more, leave RKE module connector disconnected and go to next step.
  16. Disconnect deck lid security switch 2-pin connector. Deck lid security switch is an integral part of deck lid key cylinder switch and is located behind deck lid lock cylinder. Connect a jumper wire between ground and deck lid security switch connector terminal No. 2, deck lid security switch sense circuit (Violet/Yellow wire). Using ohmmeter, check resistance of RKE module connector terminal No. 23, deck lid security switch sense circuit (Violet/Yellow wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace hood ajar switch. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open Violet/Yellow wire.
