Deck Lid Solenoid Inoperative
NOTE:
After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS. Unless instructed otherwise in test step, reconnect any disconnected connectors.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect deck lid solenoid 2-pin connector. Deck lid solenoid is an integral part of deck lid latch assembly. Using an ohmmeter, check resistance between ground and deck lid solenoid connector terminal No. 2, ground circuit (Black wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, leave deck lid solenoid connector disconnected and go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open Black wire.
- Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) module connector. Using ohmmeter, check resistance of deck lid release relay output circuit (Light Green/Black wire) between deck lid solenoid connector terminal No. 1 and RKE module connector terminal No. 16. See Figure. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, reconnect RKE module connector and go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open Light Green/Black wire.
- Ensure ignition is off. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located on bottom of instrument panel, to left of brake pedal. See Figure. Turn ignition on. Go to next step.
- Connect a 12-volt test light between deck lid solenoid connector terminals No. 1, deck lid release relay output circuit (Light Green/Black wire) and No. 2, ground circuit (Black wire). Turn ignition on. Using scan tool actuate deck lid solenoid. If test light illuminates, replace deck lid (trunk) release solenoid. See TRUNK RELEASE SOLENOID under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If test light does not illuminate, replace RKE module. See REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY (RKE) MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
