Parking Brake Pedal Mechanism: Removal

NOTE: Parking brake pedal automatic adjuster must be locked in place before servicing parking brake pedal mechanism.

Lock parking brake pedal automatic adjuster in place. See PARKING BRAKE CABLE under ADJUSTMENTS. Disconnect negative (ground) cable from battery, and isolate cable from battery terminal. Remove scuff plate from driver's side door opening. Remove driver's side kick panel, steering column cover and reinforcement from lower instrument panel. Remove front parking brake cable from parking brake cable equalizer.
Remove tension from front park brake cable. Remove 3 bolts mounting wiring junction block to instrument panel. Remove lower and upper bolt mounting brake pedal to body.
Pull downward on front park brake cable while rotating park brake pedal mechanism out from behind junction block. Remove park brake pedal release cable from park brake mechanism. Remove ground switch for red brake waning lamp from park brake pedal mechanism. Tap cable housing end fitting from bracket on parking brake pedal mechanism.
