Removal (Models Without ABS)

  1. Using brake pedal depressor, move brake pedal downward and lock brake pedal to a position past the first one inch of brake pedal travel. This prevents brake fluid from draining from master cylinder when brakelines are disconnected from height-sensing proportioning valve.
  2. Raise and support vehicle. Clean area around brakelines at height-sensing proportioning valve located on outside of driver's side frame rail, in front of rear axle. See Figure . Disconnect brakelines from height-sensing proportioning valve.
  3. Remove height-sensing proportioning valve-to-mounting bracket bolts. Remove height-sensing proportioning valve from mounting bracket. Disconnect hooked end of valve actuator from insulator bushing located in lever on height-sensing proportioning valve.
  4. Remove height-sensing proportioning valve and protective shield. Protective shield fits between height-sensing proportioning valve and mounting bracket.
