Low Oil Pressure Warning Light Always On Or Inoperative
- Start engine. If oil pressure warning light stays on with engine running, turn ignition off and go to step 3). If oil pressure warning light fails to come on with ignition on, check for broken or disconnected wiring at oil pressure sending unit. See WIRING DIAGRAMS for sending unit location.
- If wiring is okay, disconnect sending unit. Using jumper wire, ground sending unit wiring harness connector to ground. If oil pressure warning light fails to come on, check for problems in circuit wiring, burned out bulb, disconnected bulb socket in message center, or faulty BCM. See VEHICLE COMMUNICATIONS in BODY CONTROL COMPUTER article. Repair or replace as necessary.
- Remove sending unit. Connect a test oil pressure gauge in its place. Start engine and note reading. If reading is 4.0 psi or more at idle, replace oil pressure sending unit.
