Removal (Colt Wagon 1.8L)
- Remove protective cover below engine. Support engine and remove engine mount from timing belt end of engine. Remove spark plug wires and rocker cover. Remove drive belts and water pump pulley. Remove A/C belt tensioner (if equipped).
- Remove crankshaft pulley assembly. Remove upper front and lower timing belt covers. Note bolt lengths and locations. Rotate engine clockwise (as viewed from timing belt end of engine) to align timing mark on camshaft sprocket with mark on upper rear cover.
- If reusing belt, mark timing belt position on camshaft sprocket and indicate direction of belt rotation. Loosen timing belt tensioner bolt and nut. Move timing belt tensioner toward water pump to release tension and tighten nut temporarily to maintain tensioner position. Remove timing belt.
