Piston & Rod Assembly: Installation

  1. Ensure "TOP" mark on upper and intermediate piston rings faces top of piston. Ensure ring gaps are correctly spaced on upper and intermediate rings. Oil ring rail gaps are installed 180 degrees apart. See Fig 1.

  2. Install piston with valve cut(s) on piston facing manifold side and oil hole in connecting rod facing timing belt (front) side of engine. See Fig 2.
