Water Pump: Removal

NOTE: It is not necessary to remove timing belt.
  1. Disconnect battery. Drain cooling system. Remove A/C compressor and set aside (if equipped). Remove alternator from bracket and set aside. If equipped with A/C, remove solid-mount accessory bracket. See Figure. Remove alternator.
  2. On models without A/C, remove alternator and mounting bracket. On all models, remove water pump pulley and disconnect hoses from water pump. Remove 4 bolts holding water pump housing to engine. See Figure.
  3. Remove water pump housing, water pump and "O" ring. Remove water pump from housing. See Figure. Remove "O" ring from housing groove.
