Water Pump: Installation

  1. Install water pump on housing using a new gasket and "O" ring or gasket. Tighten water pump bolts to specs. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  table. Install NEW "O" ring in housing groove.
  2. Install water pump pulley. Ensure pump rotates freely. Install water pump and housing on engine, and tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  table. When installing solid mount A/C compressor bracket, tighten bolts in following order.
    • Bolt No. 1 - 30 INCH lbs. (3.3 N.m)
    • Bolts No. 2 and 3 - 40 ft. lbs. (54 N.m)
    • Bolts No. 1, 4 and 5 - 40 ft. lbs. (54 N.m)
    • Bolts No. 6 and 7 - 40 ft. lbs. (54 N.m)
  3. Fill cooling system. Purge air from cooling system. See COOLING SYSTEM AIR PURGE .
