Instrument Panel: Installation
NOTE:
Dissimilar metals in direct contact with each other may corrode rapidly. Make sure to use correct fasteners to prevent premature corrosion.
- Position instrument panel in vehicle. Connect instrument panel electrical connectors. Install bolts securing sides of instrument panel to body. Install bolts securing bottom of instrument panel to floor. Tighten instrument panel-to-floor bolts to 22 N.m (16 ft. lbs.).
- Install instrument panel bolts below windshield. Tighten instrument panel bolts below windshield to 22 N.m (16 ft. lbs.). Install instrument panel screw behind glove box brace. Tighten instrument panel screw behind glove box brace to 2.5 N.m (22 ft. lbs.). Install glove box brace with bolts. Tighten glove box brace bolts to 10 N.m (89 INCH Lbs.).
- Install screw securing instrument panel to heater air distributor case. Tighten instrument panel-to-heater air distributor case screw to 4 N.m (35 INCH Lbs.). Install screw behind stereo cassette AM/FM radio. Tighten instrument panel screw behind audio system to 3 N.m (27 INCH Lbs.).
- Raise steering column. Connect steering column electrical connectors. Install nuts and bolts securing steering column. Tighten steering column nuts to 22 N.m (16 ft. lbs.). Tighten steering column bolts to 22 N.m (16 ft. lbs.). Install knee bolsters. Tighten passenger side knee bolster trim panel screws to 3 N.m (27 INCH Lbs.). Connect glove box housing electrical connectors. Install glove box housing with screws. Tighten glove box housing screws to 2.5 N.m (22 INCH Lbs.).
- Install glove box, kick panels, chime module, instrument cluster, and instrument cluster dimmer switch assembly. Install instrument panel storage compartment with screws. Tighten instrument panel storage compartment screws to 2.5 N.m (22 INCH Lbs.). Install tweeter speakers and stereo cassette AM/FM radio. Install sun sensor and automatic temperature controls assembly. Install floor console. Connect negative battery cable.
