Diagnostic Procedure

  1. Turn ignition off. Connect scan tool. Turn ignition on. Retrieve freeze frame data. Clear DTCs and road test vehicle under same conditions freeze frame data was recorded. If DTC returns, go to next step. If DTC does not return, problem is intermittent. Check transaxle and TCM connections.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect TCM connector. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 10 on TCM harness connector. If resistance is 10-15 ohms, replace TCM. If resistance is not 10-15 ohms, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect transaxle 12-pin connector. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 11 on component side of transaxle 12-pin connector. If resistance is 10-15 ohms, repair open circuit between terminal No. 11 on harness side of transaxle 12-pin connector and terminal No. 10 on TCM harness connector. If resistance is not 10-15 ohms, go to next step.
  4. Remove valve body cover. Disconnect TCC solenoid connector. Measure resistance between ground and TCC solenoid terminal. If resistance is 10-15 ohms, repair open circuit between terminal No. 11 on component side of transaxle 12-pin connector and TCC solenoid connector. If resistance is not 10-15 ohms, replace TCC solenoid.
