Cylinder To Front Head D-Ring: Installation

  1. Rest rear head on support block J-35372. Locate control valve at 6 o'clock position. Install cylinder alignment rod J-34993 through 11 o'clock and 5 o'clock bolt holes. Lubricate new cylinder-to-compressor housing O-ring with clean Polyalkylene glycol (PAG) oil. Install new O-ring in cylinder O-ring groove.
  2. Install thrust washer and bearing in same order as they were removed. Align guide pin recess in compressor housing with guide pin. Press down on compressor housing with both hands to force it over O-ring on cylinder assembly. Add a new through-bolt gasket to through-bolts and install it into compressor assembly.
  3. Four through-bolts must thread into rear head before removing guide pins. Alternately tighten through-bolts in progressive torque sequence to 10 N.m (89 INCH lbs.). Install a new shaft seal. Add new PAG oil. Install clutch coil. Install clutch rotor and bearing. Install clutch plate and hub assembly. Perform a leak test on compressor. Install compressor. Evacuate and recharge A/C system.
