Valve Seat - Cutting Or Grinding

  1. Place cylinder head on wooden blocks. Cut intake and exhaust valve seats as follows:
    • Valve Seat - 45 degrees using seat cutter.
    • Upper Correction Angle - 30 degrees using cutter.
    • Lower Correction Angle - 60 degrees using cutter.
  2. Clean chips from cylinder head. Ensure valve seat widths are within the following specifications:
    • Intake: 1.2-1.4 mm (.047-.055").
    • Exhaust: 1.4-1.8 mm (.055-.070").
  3. Inspect assembly height of intake valves and the exhaust valves. If specified dimension is exceeded, install new valves. Inspect assembly height of intake valves and exhaust valves again. If valve assembly height is still too large despite replacing valves, replace cylinder head.
