Instrument Panel: Removal

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove floor console. Remove sun sensor and automatic temperature controls assembly. Remove tweeter speakers and stereo cassette AM/FM radio. Remove screws and instrument panel storage compartment. See Figure .
  2. Remove instrument cluster dimmer switch assembly. Remove instrument cluster, chime module, kick panels, glove box, screws and glove box housing. Disconnect glove box housing electrical connectors. Remove knee bolster.
  3. Remove nuts and bolts securing steering column. See Figure . Disconnect steering column electrical connectors. See Figure . Lower steering column. Remove screw behind stereo cassette AM/FM radio. Remove screw securing instrument panel to heater air distributor case. See Figure .
  4. Remove bolts and glove box brace. See Figure . Remove instrument panel screw behind glove box brace. Remove instrument panel bolts below windshield. See Figure . Remove bolts securing bottom of instrument panel to floor. See Figure . Remove bolts securing sides of instrument panel to body. See Figure . Disconnect instrument panel electrical connectors. Remove instrument panel.
