Parking Brake

  1. Release parking brake. Remove rear wheels. Remove caliper and rotor assemblies. Disconnect parking brake cable from backplate operating lever on each side of vehicle. Raise and support vehicle. Inspect and replace any parts of doubtful strength or quality because of discoloration from heat or stress.
  2. Using a vernier caliper, adjust shoe assembly diameter to 167.6 to 167.8 mm (6.60 to 6.61"), by turning adjuster nut clockwise to increase diameter. Install caliper and rotor assemblies. Install rear wheels. Install parking brake cable to backplate lever on each side of vehicle. In vehicle cabin, pull on parking brake handle and stop after hearing two clicks. Turn rear wheel by hand until wheel begins to drag. Release parking brake. Turn rear wheel by hand to check drag and readjust cable, if necessary.
