Diagnostic Test

Check For An Active DTC
1. Turn The Ignition On And Open One Of The Front Doors.
  NOTE:
  A Front Door Must Remain Open Whenever Checking Or Erasing Radio DTCS.
2. With The Scan Tool, Read Radio DTCS And Record On The Repair Order.
3. With The Scan Tool, Perform An ECU Reset To The Radio, And Then Erase DTCS.
4. Turn The Ignition Off For A Minimum Of 10.0 Seconds.
5. Turn The Ignition On.
6. With The Scan Tool, Read Radio DTCS.
  Did The DTC Return?
  
  Yes
  - Go To 2
  No
  - Perform The Testing For An Intermittent Condition Procedure. Refer To Testing For An Intermittent Condition .
Check The Antenna Connection
1. Turn The Ignition Off.
2. Disconnect The Satellite Radio Antenna Connector At The Rear Of The Radio.
3. Inspect The Satellite Radio Antenna Connection.
  Was The Antenna Connection Clean And Secure?
  
  Yes
  - Go To 3
  No
  - Clean And Secure The Antenna Connection As Necessary.
  - Perform The Body Verification Test. Refer To Body Verification Test .
Check The Antenna And Cable
1. Connect The Radio Diagnostic Tool (Special Tool #9977-6-13, Adapter, Long RF Rg-58 Fakra) And (Special Tool #9977-6-Satxm, Antenna, Satellite/Sirus Xm) To The Satellite Antenna Connection On The Back Of The Radio.
2. Make Sure One Of The Front Doors Is Still Open.
3. Turn The Ignition On.
4. With The Scan Tool, Perform An ECU Reset To The Radio, And Then Erase DTCS.
5. Turn The Ignition Off For A Minimum Of 10.0 Seconds.
6. Turn The Ignition On.
7. Turn The Radio On.
8. Using The Scan Tool, Read Radio DTCS.
  NOTE:
  While Using The 9977-6-Satxm Test Antenna The GPS Reception Will Not Be Available And GPS Faults May Occur. The 9977-6-Satxm Test Tool Will Only Enable Satellite Radio Reception To Work. For GPS Reception Concerns Use Test Antenna 9977-6-Gps-Glo.
  
  Is The DTC Active?
  
  Yes
  - Go To 5
  No
  - Go To 4
Test The Satellite Antenna Cable
1. Turn The Ignition Off.
2. Disconnect The Vehicles Satellite Antenna Cable At The Satellite Antenna.
  NOTE:
  Special Tool 9977-6-13 Should Still Be Connected At The Back Of The Radio During This Test.
3. Connect The (Special Tool #9977-6-13, Adapter, Long RF Rg-58 Fakra) To The Vehicles Satellite Antenna.
4. Make Sure One Of The Front Doors Is Still Open.
5. Turn The Ignition On.
6. With The Scan Tool, Perform An ECU Reset To The Radio, And Then Erase DTCS.
7. Turn The Ignition Off For A Minimum Of 10.0 Seconds.
8. Turn The Ignition On.
9. Turn The Radio On.
10. Using The Scan Tool, Read Radio DTCS.
  Is The DTC Active?
  
  Yes
  - Replace The Satellite Antenna In Accordance With The Service Information.
  - Perform The Body Verification Test. Refer To Body Verification Test .
  No
  - Use The Radio Diagnostic Tool (Special Tool #9977-6-13, Adapter, Long RF Rg-58 Fakra) To Locate The Open Circuit, Repair Or Replace The Satellite Antenna Cable As Necessary.
  - Perform The Body Verification Test. Refer To Body Verification Test .
Check Related Harness Connections
1. Disconnect All Radio Harness Connectors.
2. Disconnect All Related In-Line Harness Connections (If Equipped).
3. Disconnect The Related Component Harness Connectors.
4. Inspect Harness Connectors, Component Connectors, And All Male And Female Terminals For The Following Conditions:
  - Proper Connector Installation.
  - Damaged Connector Locks.
  - Corrosion.
  - Other Signs Of Water Intrusion.
  - Weather Seal Damage (If Equipped).
  - Bent Terminals.
  - Overheating Due To A Poor Connection (Terminal May Be Discolored Due To Excessive Current Draw).
  - Presence Of Foreign Conductive Materials On Connector Pins And Terminals.
  - Terminals That Have Been Pushed Back Into The Connector Cavity.
  - Perform A Terminal Drag Test On Each Connector Terminal To Verify Proper Terminal Tension.
  Repair Any Conditions That Are Found.
5. Reconnect All Radio Harness Connectors. Be Certain That All Harness Connectors Are Fully Seated And The Connector Locks Are Fully Engaged.
6. Reconnect All In-Line Harness Connectors (If Equipped). Be Certain That All Connectors Are Fully Seated And The Connector Locks Are Fully Engaged.
7. Reconnect All Related Component Harness Connectors. Be Certain That All Connectors Are Fully Seated And The Connector Locks Are Fully Engaged.
8. Turn The Ignition On.
9. With The Scan Tool, Perform An ECU Reset To The Radio, And Then Erase DTCS.
10. Turn The Ignition Off For A Minimum Of 10.0 Seconds.
11. Turn The Ignition On.
12. Using The Recorded Environmental Data, Along With The When Monitored And Set Conditions Above, Operate The Vehicle In The Conditions That Set The DTC.
13. With The Scan Tool, Read Radio DTCS.
  Did The DTC Return?
  
  Yes
  - Replace The Radio In Accordance With The Service Information. Refer To Module, Radio Receiver, Removal And Installation .
  - Perform The Body Verification Test. Refer To Body Verification Test .
  No
  - Perform The Body Verification Test. Refer To Body Verification Test .
  - Test Complete.
