Standard Procedure - Fluid Check

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .

  2. Clean the area around the transfer case fill (3) and drain plugs (2).
    NOTE:

    Inspect all the transfer case plug seals and replace as necessary.

  3. Remove the transfer case fill plug (3).
  4. Remove the transfer case drain plug (2) and allow the transfer case lubricant to drain into a suitable container.
  5. When the fluid has stopped draining, install the drain plug (2) and tighten to the proper specification. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
  6. Using the fill hole (3), fill the transfer case with 1.0 L +/- 0.05 L (2.11pint +/- 0.11 pint) of fluid. Refer to CAPACITIES AND RECOMMENDED FLUIDS, SPECIFICATIONS .
  7. Install the fill plug (3) and tighten to the proper specification. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
