High Intensity Discharge Headlamps
NOTE:
If the headlight cannot be adjusted following the standard adjustment procedure (Phillips #2 screwdriver through cone-shaped opening on back of headlight) due to stripped adjuster bolt teeth, the headlight must be adjusted using the hex manufactured into adjusting bolt (1) on the backside of the headlight.
NOTE:
Vehicles equipped with the High Intensity Discharge (HID) headlights are also equipped with the Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFLS). If the AFLS module or either front or rear axle (also known as leveling) sensor has been replaced, the AFLS module must store the leveling sensor at the 0 (zero) position first, before the headlights can be correctly and successfully aimed.
- Create a second lamp horizontal reference line 5.3 centimeters (2.1 inches) below the initial line created in Step 6 of the Lamp Alignment Screen Preparation procedure. This line will be the High Intensity Discharge (HID) horizontal reference height.
- Turn the headlights ON and select the LOW beams.
- Block the light of the right headlight.
- Rotate the left headlight vertical adjustment screw to adjust the left side of the beam pattern to the HID horizontal reference height as required. If the headlight cannot be adjusted following the standard adjustment procedure (Phillips #2 screwdriver through cone-shaped opening on back of headlight) due to stripped adjuster bolt teeth, the headlight must be adjusted using the hex manufactured into adjusting bolt on the backside of the headlight.
- Block the light of the left headlight.
- Rotate the right headlight vertical adjustment screw to adjust the left side of the beam pattern to the HID horizontal reference height as required. If the headlight cannot be adjusted following the standard adjustment procedure (Phillips #2 screwdriver through cone-shaped opening on back of headlight) due to stripped adjuster bolt teeth, the headlight must be adjusted using the hex manufactured into adjusting bolt on the backside of the headlight.
- For export markets only, use a screwdriver to rotate the headlight horizontal adjustment screw on the back of each front lamp unit housing to adjust the beam horizontally to the right or left as required.
