Inboard/Outboard Adjustment-Front Door Glass

NOTE:

The importance of the inboard/outboard adjustment is to allow for the top edge of the glass to clear top header in the event of a frozen window or loss of battery power with the window in the full up position.

Raise the windows to the full up position and close the doors with top fully closed.
Inspect and verify the gap at location A is 8 ± 2 mm. Refer to GLASS, SPECIFICATIONS .
Check the door glass preload adjustment.
1. Close the door short of latching, until the top corner of the front door glass makes contact with the quarter glass seal.
2. Measure the gap between the inner surface of the front door glass and the quarter glass seal at the bottom at location F. Refer to GLASS, SPECIFICATIONS .
3. If necessary, adjust the glass until a gap of 3 mm is obtained.

Remove the door trim panel. Refer to PANEL, DOOR TRIM, REMOVAL .
Remove the one access plug cover on the door module to gain access to the adjustment screws.
Loosen the rear glass attachment fastener (1) only until the glass will move. Do not over loosen, the glass should move with some effort.
CAUTION:
Do not loosen the cam nut. Only the inner hex slot is used for adjustment. Turning the cam nut may result in damage to the adjustment cam.

NOTE:
The inner hex screw has a maximum rotation of 180 degrees. 180 degrees of rotation on the screw equals 20 mm of glass movement.
If the glass must be adjusted inboard, rotate the inner allen screw (2) counterclockwise (CCW) for the left front door or clockwise (CW) for the right front door.
If the glass must be adjusted outboard, rotate the inner allen screw CW for the left front door or CCW for the right front door.
Tighten the glass attachment fasteners to 8 N.m (71 in. lbs.).

Check the door glass preload adjustment.
1. Close the door short of latching, until the top corner of the front door glass makes contact with the quarter glass seal.
2. Measure the gap between the inner surface of the front door glass and the quarter glass seal at the bottom at location F. Refer to GLASS, SPECIFICATIONS .
3. If necessary, repeat steps 6 through 9 until a gap of 3 mm is obtained.
Close the door short of latching and verify adjustments, if more adjustments are necessary repeat steps 6 and 9.
Install the two access plug covers on the door module.
Lower the glass fully and verify that the top edge of the glass is below the door trim. If not, perform the glass calibration reset and relearn procedure.
Perform a scissor check of the glass as follows:
1. Raise both windows to the full up position.
2. Lower the front glass fully.
3. Raise up the front glass fully.
4. Make sure the rear edge of the front glass doesn't move to the inside of the quarter glass seal, leading edge.
5. Lower and raise the quarter glass fully.
6. Make sure the front edge of the quarter glass doesn't move to the outside of the front glass seal, leading edge. Also make sure that there is no distortion of the quarter glass seal.

After door glass adjustment is complete, it may be necessary to release any tension that may be present in the regulator assembly.
1. Lower the door glass to the full down position.
2. Loosen the lower regulator fastener (1) until tension releases and then tighten the fastener to 8 N.m (71 in. lbs.).
Install the door trim panel. Refer to PANEL, DOOR TRIM, INSTALLATION .
