Diagnostic Test

- ACTIVE DTC NOTE:
If there are any 5 Volt supply DTCs present, repair those DTCs before proceeding.
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Is the DTC active?
Yes
- Go To 2.
No
- Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE and perform the INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure.
- (K373) EXHAUST PRESSURE SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT OPEN/HIGH RESISTANCE
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the Exhaust Pressure Sensor harness connector.
- Disconnect the PCM C2 harness connector.
- Measure the resistance of the (K373) Exhaust Pressure Sensor Signal circuit between the Exhaust Pressure Sensor harness connector and the PCM C2 harness connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Go To 3.
No
- Repair the (K373) Exhaust Pressure Sensor Signal circuit for an open or high resistance.
- Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE and perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION.
- (K373) EXHAUST PRESSURE SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND
- Measure the resistance between ground and the (K373) Exhaust Pressure Sensor Signal circuit at the Exhaust Pressure Sensor harness connector.
Is the resistance below 10k Ohms?
Yes
- Repair the (K373) Exhaust Pressure Sensor Signal circuit for a short to ground.
- Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE and perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION.
No
- Go To 4.
- Measure the resistance between ground and the (K373) Exhaust Pressure Sensor Signal circuit at the Exhaust Pressure Sensor harness connector.
- (K373) EXHAUST PRESSURE SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO THE (K900) SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT
- Measure the resistance between the (K373) Exhaust Pressure Sensor Signal circuit and the (K900) Sensor Ground circuit at the Exhaust Pressure Sensor harness connector.
Is the resistance below 10k Ohms?
Yes
- Repair the short between the (K373) Exhaust Pressure Sensor Signal circuit and the (K900) Sensor Ground circuit.
- Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE and perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION.
No
- Go To 5.
- Measure the resistance between the (K373) Exhaust Pressure Sensor Signal circuit and the (K900) Sensor Ground circuit at the Exhaust Pressure Sensor harness connector.
- THE EXHAUST PRESSURE SENSOR
- Reconnect the PCM C2 harness connector.
- Turn the ignition on.
- While monitoring scan tool, connect a jumper across the (K856) 5 Volt supply circuit and the (K373) Exhaust Pressure Sensor Signal circuit at the Exhaust Pressure Sensor harness connector.
Did the scan tool display DTC P0473 active?
Yes
- Replace the Exhaust Pressure Sensor in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to SENSOR, DIFFERENTIAL PRESSURE, REMOVAL .
- Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE and perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION.
No
- Replace the Powertrain Control Module in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, POWERTRAIN CONTROL, REMOVAL .
- Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE and perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION.
