Latch, Folding Top, DECKLID: Removal: Removal

  1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
  2. Place decklid in the service position. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  3. Remove the rear and side trunk trim panels. Refer to PANEL, TRUNK TRIM, REMOVAL .
    CAUTION:

    Damage to the decklid forward latch cable can result if the latch assembly is twisted or moved out of position. Slide the cable sleeve (3) forward out of the latch bracket (2) to gain freedom of movement.

  4. Mark the orientation of the decklid forward latch bracket to the vehicle left inner quarter panel to ensure proper alignment during installation.
  5. Remove the decklid forward latch bracket retaining bolts (1).

  6. Disconnect the decklid forward latch switch electrical connector, left side only.
  7. Remove the top connector from the bracket, left side only.
  8. While lifting the decklid latch toward the deckbar cylinder, remove the cable (3) from the cylinder bracket (2) and slide the cable out of the retainer (1) on the cylinder.
  9. Remove the decklid forward latch and bracket assembly from the vehicle.
