Diagnostic Test

• When Monitored: 

  First 20 seconds after startup, as long as the engine has been off for at least 1 hour and the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) has come down at least 7°C (18°F) and the vehicle is NOT driven over 3 kPH (2 MPH).

• Set Condition: 

  If the actual cam position for bank 2 is more than 7° advanced (angular variation) from its desired position for at least 4 seconds.

For a complete wiring diagram, refer to appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article  .

1. CHECK FOR CURRENT DTC 
   1. Turn the ignition on.
   2. With the scan tool, read PCM DTCs.

      Are any other DTCs present?

      Yes 

      • Diagnose any other Camshaft Position Sensor DTCs before continuing.

      No 

      • Go To  2.
2. INTERMITTENT WIRING AND CONNECTORS 
   1. The conditions necessary to set this DTC are not present at this time.
      NOTE:

      Check connectors - Clean/repair as necessary. Poor pin to terminal connections can set DTCs.

      Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors specific to this DTC. Wiggle the wires while checking for shorts and open circuits.

      NOTE:

      Check for any Technical Service Bulletins that may apply.

      Were there any problems found?

      Yes 

      • Repair as necessary.
      • Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST and perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST.

      No 

      • The condition that caused this DTC to set is currently not present. Inspect the related wiring harness for a possible intermittent condition.
