Diagnostic Test

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2015 RAM 3500 HD and 2015 RAM 2500 HD. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC
    NOTE:

    Diagnose any P0462, P0463, P2066,, P2067, or P2068 DTCs before continuing.

    1. Turn the ignition on.
    2. With the scan tool, read DTCs and record on the repair order.

Is the DTC active or pending?

      Yes

      • Go To  2

      No

  2. CHECK THE OPERATION OF THE SECONDARY FUEL PUMP
    1. With the scan tool, navigate to the PCM to actuate the Secondary (Auxiliary) Fuel Pump.

Does the Secondary fuel pump operate?

      Yes

      • Go To  3

      No

      • Go To  4
  3. CHECK THE TRANSFER TUBE FOR FUEL LEAKS OR BLOCKAGE
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Visually inspect the Transfer Tube between the Secondary (Auxiliary) Fuel Tank and the Primary (Main) Fuel Tank for leaks or blockage.

Were any leaks or blockage found?

      Yes

      No

  4. CHECK FOR VOLTAGE ON THE (N2) SECONDARY FUEL PUMP CONTROL OUTPUT CIRCUIT
    NOTE:

Verify that Fuse 73 is good, that the Fuel Pump Transfer ON/ OFF Relay and Transfer Relay are operating correctly before continuing with the test.

    1. Turn the ignition on.
    2. Measure the voltage on the (N2) Secondary Fuel Pump Control Output circuit at the Secondary Fuel Pump harness connector.

Is the voltage readings within 0.2 volts of battery voltage?

      Yes

      • Go To  6

      No

      • Go To  5
  5. CHECK THE (N2) SECONDARY FUEL PUMP CONTROL OUTPUT CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN/HIGH RESISTANCE
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Measure the resistance of the (N2) Secondary Fuel Pump Control Output circuit between the PDC C6 harness connector and the Secondary Fuel Pump harness connector.

Is the resistance below 3.0 Ohms?

      Yes

      • Go To  6

      No

      • Repair the open or excessive resistance in the (N2) Secondary Fuel Pump Control Output circuit.
      • Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
  6. CHECK THE (Z914) SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN/HIGH RESISTANCE
    1. Measure the resistance of the (Z914) Secondary Fuel Pump ground circuit between the Secondary Fuel Pump harness connector and ground.

Is the resistance below 3.0 Ohms?

      Yes

      • Repair the open or excessive resistance in the (Z914) Secondary Fuel Pump ground circuit.
      • Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .

      No
