Diagnostic Test

- RADIATOR COOLING FAN MODULE OPERATION
- Ignition on, engine not running.
- With a scan tool, select Radiator Cooling Fan Relay #1 Control State to actuate the Low Speed Cooling Fan Relay.
Is the Cooling Fan operating on low speed?
Yes
- Perform the INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Refer to INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
No
- Go To 2
- (N201) LOW RADIATOR FAN RELAY CONTROL CIRCUIT
- Turn the ignition off.
- Remove the Low Speed Cooling Fan Relay from the PDC.
- Turn the ignition on, engine not running.
- With a scan tool, select Radiator Cooling Fan Relay 1 Control State, Toggle, to actuate the Low Speed Cooling Fan Relay.
- Using a 12-volt test light connected to battery voltage, probe the (N201) Low Radiator Fan Control circuit in the Low Radiator Fan Relay terminal.
Does the test light illuminate brightly and flash on and off during the actuation?
Yes
- Replace the Low Radiator Fan Relay.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 3
- (N201) LOW RADIATOR FAN RELAY CONTROL CIRCUIT OPEN
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the PCM C1 harness connector.
- Measure the resistance of the (N201) Low Radiator Fan Control circuit between the PCM C1 harness connector and the (N201) Low Radiator Fan Control circuit in the Low Radiator Fan Relay terminal.
Is the resistance below 5.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Go To 4
No
- Repair the open in the (N201) Low Radiator Fan Control circuit.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
- (N201) LOW RADIATOR FAN RELAY CONTROL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND
- Measure the resistance between ground and the (N201) Low Radiator Fan Control circuit in the PCM C1 harness connector.
Is the resistance below 10k Ohms?
Yes
- Repair the (N201) Low Radiator Fan Control circuit for a short to ground.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Replace the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) in accordance with the service information. Refer to MODULE, POWERTRAIN CONTROL, REMOVAL .
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
- Measure the resistance between ground and the (N201) Low Radiator Fan Control circuit in the PCM C1 harness connector.
