(T807) PRESSURE SIGNAL 8 SHORT TO GROUND
(T807) PRESSURE SIGNAL 8 OPEN
PRESSURE SWITCH 8
TRANSMISSION RANGE SENSOR NOT PROPERLY CALIBRATED
TRANSMISSION RANGE SENSOR
TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE (TCM)

Always perform the AS68RC Pre-Diagnostic Troubleshooting procedure before proceeding. Refer to  Standard Procedure  .

  1. CHECK IF DTC IS CURRENT
    NOTE:

This DTC may set if the Transmission Range Sensor has been replaced or reinstalled and not properly adjusted (calibrated). Make sure the TRS is properly adjusted in accordance to the Service Information before attempting to perform this diagnostic procedure. If the TRS was improperly adjusted, adjust as necessary and perform AS68RC VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to Standard Procedure .

    1. Using the scan tool, read TCM DTCs.
    2. Record the Environmental Data and any DTCs.
    3. Clear DTCs.
    4. Using the recorded Environmental Data, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
    5. Read TCM DTCs.

      Did the DTC reset?

      Yes

      • Go To  2.

      No

      • Go To  8.
  2. CHECK PRESSURE SWITCH 8 READING ON THE SCAN TOOL
    1. Ignition on, engine not running.
    2. With the scan tool, monitor the Pressure Switch 8 state (Open-Closed) in the next step.
    3. Move the shift lever to each of the shift lever positions (P, R, N, D, 3, 2, and 1).

Does the Pressure Switch 8 read "Closed" in all shift positions?

      Yes

      • Go To  4.

      No

      • Go To  3.
  3. COMPARE PRESSURE SWITCH 8 STATE TO SHIFT LEVER POSITION
    1. With the scan tool, monitor the Pressure Switch 8 state (Open-Closed) in the following step(s).
      CAUTION:

      Apply the parking brake.

    2. Start the engine and with the brakes firmly applied, move the shift lever to each of the shift lever positions (P, R, N, D, 3, 2, 1) and record your findings.

Select the answer that best describes your readings:

Pressure Switch 8 reads "Closed" in P, R, or N.

      • This is an indication of a hydraulic leak into the Pressure Solenoid 8 hydraulic oil circuit. Inspect the Valve Body and control valves for internal hydraulic leakage, sticking, scored etc. and repair or replace as necessary.
      • Perform AS68RC VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to Standard Procedure .

Pressure Switch 8 reads "Open" in all shift positions.

      • Go To  6.
  4. CHECK THE PRESSURE SWITCH 8
    1. Turn the ignition off to the lock position.
    2. Disconnect the Transmission Solenoid C1 harness connector.
    3. Ignition on, engine not running.
    4. With the scan tool, read the Pressure Switch 8 state (Open-Closed).

Does the Pressure Switch 8 state read as "Closed"?

      Yes

      • Go To  5.

      No

      • Inspect the transmission internal wiring from the Transmission Solenoid C1 connector to the Pressure Switch 8 harness connector for damage, chafing or a short to ground and repair or replace as necessary. If no problems are found, replace the Pressure Switch 8 in accordance with the Service Information.
      • Perform AS68RC VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to Standard Procedure .
  5. CHECK THE (T807) PRESSURE SIGNAL 8 CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
    1. Turn the ignition off to the lock position.
    2. Disconnect the TCM C3 harness connector.
    3. Ignition on, engine not running.
    4. With the scan tool, read the Pressure Switch 8 state (Open-Closed).

Does the Pressure Switch 8 state read as "Closed"?

      Yes

      • Using the schematics as a guide, check the Transmission Control Module (TCM) terminals for corrosion, damage, or terminal push out. Pay particular attention to all power and ground circuits. Check for Service Information Tune-ups or Service Bulletins for any possible causes that may apply. If no problems are found, replace and program the TCM in accordance with the Service Information.
      • Perform AS68RC VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to Standard Procedure .

      No

      • Repair the (T807) Pressure Signal 8 circuit for a short to ground.
      • Perform AS68RC VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to Standard Procedure .
  6. CHECK THE PRESSURE SWITCH

    1. Turn the ignition off to the lock position.
    2. Disconnect the Transmission Solenoid C1 harness connector.
    3. Ignition on, engine not running.
    4. With the scan tool, monitor the Pressure Switch 8 state (Open-Closed) in the following step.
    5. Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, probe the (T807) Pressure Switch 8 Signal circuit in the Transmission Solenoid C1 harness connector while monitoring the Pressure Switch 8 state on the scan tool.

Does the scan tool show the Pressure Switch 8 state change from "Open" to "Closed" when probing the Pressure Switch 8 Signal circuit?

      Yes

      • Check the transmission internal wiring and connectors for the (T807) Pressure Switch 8 Signal circuit between the Transmission Solenoid C1 connector and the Pressure Switch 8 harness connector for an open and repair or replace as necessary. Also check if the Pressure Switch 8 is properly torqued in the valve body. If no problems are found, replace the Pressure Switch 8 in accordance with the Service Information.
      • Perform AS68RC VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to Standard Procedure .

      No

      • Go To  7.
  7. CHECK THE (T807) PRESSURE SIGNAL 8 CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
Fig 2: Checking Pressure Signal No. 8 Circuit For An Open
