Bearing, Differential Side: Removal: Removal

  1. Remove differential case from the housing.
  2. Install Plug (special tool #8964, Plug, Differential Bearing) (4) into the end of the case.
  3. Remove differential case bearings (3) with Bearing Splitter (special tool #1130, Splitter, Bearing/Gear) (2) and Bridge (special tool #938, Bridge) (1).


  1. Remove differential case from the housing.

  2. Install Plug (special tool #8964, Plug, Differential Bearing) (2) into the end of the case.
  3. Install (special tool #2022100030, Puller Press, Carrier Bearing) (1) and (special tool #2022101030, Block Set, Carrier Bearing) (3) over bearing (4) as shown in illustration. Be sure the anti-rotation tab (5) aligns with the flats of the puller.

  4. Position the puller (2) in a suitable vise (4).
    NOTE:

    Have an assistant hold the differential case to prevent it from dropping off of the bench.

  5. Tighten the forcing screw (1) of the puller to remove the bearing.
