Diagnostic Test

- COOLING FAN RELAY OPERATION
- Ignition on, engine not running.
- With the scan tool, actuate the Cooling Fan Relay.
Is the Cooling Fan Relay operating?
Yes
- Perform the INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Refer to INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
No
- Go To 2.
- ECT SENSOR DTCS CURRENTLY ACTIVE
Are any CAN C or ECT Sensor DTCs active at this time?
Yes
- Perform the appropriate diagnostics for the ECT Sensor or CAN C Bus DTCs. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC CODE INDEX .
No
- Go To 3.
- CONDENSER FAN CONTROL CIRCUIT DTCS SET IN THE TIPM
Are any Condenser Fan Control Circuit DTCs set in the TIPM?
Yes
- Diagnose the appropriate Condenser Fan Control Circuits in the TIPM. Refer to DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING .
No
- Go To 4.
- POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM)
- Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors between the Cooling Fan and the Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM).
- Look for any chafed, pierced, pinched or partially broken wires.
- Look for broken, bent, pushed out or corroded terminals. Verify that there is good pin to terminal contact in the Cooling Fan Module and the Totally Integrated Power Module connectors.
- Refer to any Technical Service Bulletins that may apply.
Were there any problems found?
Yes
- Repair as necessary.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Replace and program the Powertrain Control Module in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
