Diagnostic Test

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2015 RAM 1500. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. DTC IS ACTIVE
    1. Ignition on, engine not running.
    2. With the scan tool, erase DTCs in the PCM.
    3. Attempt to start the engine and test drive the vehicle.
    4. With the scan tool, select View DTCs.

Is the status Active for this DTC?

      Yes

      • Go To  2

      No

      • Perform the INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Refer to INTERMITTENT DTC .
  2. CHECK THE (K227) FUEL INJECTOR NO. 1 HIGH-SIDE CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN/HIGH RESISTANCE

    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect the Fuel Injector No. 1 harness connector.
    3. Disconnect the PCM C2 harness connector.
    4. Measure the resistance of the (K227) Fuel Injector No. 1 High-Side Control circuit between the Fuel Injector No. 1 harness connector and the PCM C2 harness connector.

Is the resistance below 5.0 Ohms?

      Yes

      • Go To  3

      No

      • Repair the (K227) Fuel Injector No. 1 High-Side Control circuit for an open or high resistance.
      • Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
  3. CHECK THE (K611) FUEL INJECTOR NO. 1 LOW-SIDE CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN/HIGH RESISTANCE
Fig 2: Checking Fuel Injector No. 1 Low-Side Control Circuit For An Open Or High Resistance
    GC0143432Courtesy of CHRYSLER GROUP, LLC
    1. Measure the resistance of the (K611) Fuel Injector No. 1 Low-Side Control circuit between the Fuel Injector No. 1 harness connector and the PCM C2 harness connector.

Is the resistance below 5.0 Ohms?

      Yes

      • Go To  4

      No

      • Repair the (K611) Fuel Injector No. 1 Low-Side Control circuit for an open or high resistance.
      • Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
  4. FUEL INJECTOR NO. 1
    1. Measure the resistance between the terminals of Fuel Injector No. 1.
      NOTE:

Be sure to zero the meter before taking the measurement. A good Fuel Injector has approximately 0.5 Ohm of resistance when measured through it.

Is the resistance below 1.0 Ohm?

      Yes

      • Go To  5

      No

  5. POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE
    1. Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors between the Fuel Injector and the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
    2. Look for any chafed, pierced, pinched, or partially broken wires.
    3. Look for broken, bent, pushed out or corroded terminals.
    4. Perform any Technical Service Bulletins that may apply.

      Were any problems found?

      Yes

      No
