NOX Sensor 1/1

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  3. Remove the right front tire and wheel assembly.
  4. Remove the right front wheelhouse splash shield. Refer to SHIELD, SPLASH, FRONT WHEELHOUSE, REMOVAL .

    NOTE:

    DO NOT  try to disconnect the wire harness connector (2) from the NOx sensor module (1).

  5. Disconnect the NOx sensor module wire harness connector (4).
  6. Remove the nuts (3) and the NOx sensor module (1).
  7. Detach the NOx sensor wire harness retainers.

  8. Using a six sided crow foot, remove the NOx sensor 1/1 (2) with module from the Diesel Oxidation Catalyst/Diesel Particulate Filter DOC/DPF inlet elbow (1).
  9. If the NOx sensor fails to loosen use a torque wrench set to 160 N.m (118 ft. lbs.) and loosen the NOx sensor (1).
    NOTE:

    DO NOT  use a torch as a heat source.

  10. If the NOx sensor is still not loose after applying 160 N.m (118 ft. lbs.) then use a heat gun to heat the NOx sensor boss for 1 minute at 450° C (842° F).
