Pump, Water: Installation: 3.0L

  1. Clean all O-ring sealing surfaces.
  2. Install a new O-ring seal (1) onto engine coolant tube (2).

  3. Install a new O-ring seals (1) onto water pump housing (2).

  4. Install a new O-ring seal (3) onto coolant inlet tube (5).
  5. Install the coolant inlet tube (5). Tighten bolts (4) to 11 N.m (97 in. lbs.).
  6. Install the water pump. Tighten bolts (1) to:
    • 25 N.m (18 ft. lbs.).
    • Loosen bolts one at a time 90° and then tighten to 32 N.m (24 ft. lbs.).

  7. Install new O-ring seals (1) onto coolant tube (2).

  8. Install the coolant tube (2). Tighten the bolts (1) to 8 N.m (71 in. lbs.).

  9. Install the fuel supply line (2). Refer to TUBE(S), FUEL, INSTALLATION .

  10. Install the serpentine belt tensioner bracket (1) and tighten bolts (2, 3) to:
    • M10 bolts to 45 N.m (33 ft. lbs.).
    • M6 bolt to 11 N.m (97 in. lbs.).

  11. Install serpentine belt tensioner (2). Refer to TENSIONER, BELT, INSTALLATION .

  12. Install the lower radiator hose to the water pump (3).
  13. Install the coolant recovery bottle purge hose to the purge tube (2).
  14. Install the thermostat housing (1). Refer to THERMOSTAT, INSTALLATION .
  15. Install the temperature sensor. Refer to SENSOR, COOLANT TEMPERATURE, INSTALLATION .
  16. Install the A/C discharge line that is routed in front of water pump to the A/C compressor. Refer to LINE, A/C DISCHARGE, INSTALLATION .
  17. Install the A/C suction line that is routed in front of water pump to the A/C compressor. Refer to LINE, A/C SUCTION, INSTALLATION .
  18. Install the electric vacuum pump Refer to PUMP, ELECTRIC VACUUM, INSTALLATION .
  19. Install the pressurized coolant bottle. Refer to BOTTLE, PRESSURIZED COOLANT, INSTALLATION .
  20. Connect negative battery cable.
  21. Evacuate air and refill cooling system. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  22. Check cooling system for leaks. Refer to DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING .

  23. Install the engine cover (1).
