Section 758 (Front Axle - 215FD - 1500): Installation: Installation

CAUTION:
Failure to properly torque axle mounting bolts may result in axle damage.
- Install the isolator (1) and axle mounting bolts (2) on the axle and tighten to the proper specifications. Refer to SPECIFICATIONS .
- Raise the axle into position.
- Install the engine isolator bolts (1) and isolator through bolt (2) and tighten to the proper specification. Refer to SPECIFICATIONS
- Install axle shaft tube mounting bolts (1) and wire harness bracket (2) and tighten to the proper specification. Refer to SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install axle housing pinion nose mounting bolts (1) and tighten to the proper specification. Refer to SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install disconnect actuator (2) wiring connector (1).
- Install suspension crossmember. Refer to CROSSMEMBER, LOWER CONTROL ARM, INSTALLATION .
- Install the steering gear. Refer to GEAR, INDEPENDENT FRONT SUSPENSION, INSTALLATION .
- Install skid plate (1) and bolts (2) and tighten to specifications. Refer to PLATE, SKID, FRONT, INSTALLATION
.NOTE:
Use front propeller shaft fasteners.
- Install front propeller shaft (2) with reference marks (4) aligned and tighten to the proper. Refer to SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install axle half shafts. Refer to SHAFT, DRIVE, FRONT LIGHT DUTY, INSTALLATION

NOTE:
The vent cap must point upward. The position of the vent cap must be between the 10 o'clock and 11 o'clock position with the cap aligning with the engine isolator/axle housing bolted joint when looking at the axle from the front of vehicle.
- Install axle vent tube.
- Verify differential fluid level and add fluid if necessary. Refer to SPECIFICATIONS .
