Pan, Oil: Removal

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
  2. Drain engine oil. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  3. Remove the structural dust cover. Refer to REMOVAL .
  4. Remove the transmission oil cooler line support bracket bolt (1).
  5. Remove the transmission oil cooler line retaining clip (2) from the engine oil pan stud.
  6. Detach the wire harness retainers from oil pan stud.
    NOTE: Do not pry on oil pan or oil pan gasket. The gasket is integral to engine windage tray and does not come out with oil pan.

    Remove the oil pan bolts using the sequence shown.

  8. Separate the oil pan from the engine block.
    NOTE: The oil pump pick-up tube can be removed with the oil pan positioned aside.

    Remove the oil pump pickup tube bolt (2), nut (1) and the oil pump pickup tube and oil pan from the engine.

    NOTE: When the oil pan is removed, a new integral windage tray and gasket assembly must be installed. The old gasket cannot be reused.
  10. Discard the integral windage tray and gasket and replace.
