Diagnostic Test

  1. DTC IS ACTIVE 
    NOTE:

    If there are any other Fuel Injector DTCs present, perform the Diagnostics for those DTCs before continuing with this one.

    1. Ignition on, engine not running.
    2. With the scan tool, erase DTCs in the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
    3. Start the engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperature.
    4. With the scan tool, select View DTCs.

      Is the status Active for this DTC?

      Yes 

      • Go To  2

      No 

      • Perform the INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Refer to INTERMITTENT DTC .
  2. CHECK THE FUEL INJECTOR CONTROL CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect the Fuel Injector 1, 2, & 3 harness connectors.
    3. Disconnect the PCM C2 harness connector.
    4. Remove the ASD Relay from the PDC.
    5. Connect a jumper wire between cavity 30 and cavity 87 of the ASD Relay connector.
    6. Turn the ignition on.
    7. Measure the voltage of each Fuel Injector High-Side Control circuit (for Injectors 1, 2, & 3).

      Is the voltage at or above Battery voltage for any of the measurements?

      Yes 

      • Repair the appropriate Fuel Injector Control circuit for a short to voltage.
      • Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .

      No 

      • Go To  3
  3. FUEL INJECTORS/BANK 1 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Replace Fuel Injectors 1, 2, and 3 in accordance with the service information.
    3. Turn the ignition on.
    4. With the scan tool, erase PCM DTCs.
    5. Start the engine and allow to reach operating temperature.
    6. Test drive the vehicle during normal operating conditions.
    7. With the scan tool, read PCM DTCs.

      Does the scan tool display this DTC?

      Yes 

      • Replace the Powertrain Control Module in accordance with the service information. Refer to REMOVAL .
      • Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
