Diagnostic Test

  1. DTC IS ACTIVE 
    1. Ignition on, engine not running.
    2. With the scan tool, erase DTCs in the PCM.
    3. Crank the engine for no more than 10 seconds if it will not start.
    4. With the scan tool, select View DTCs.

      Is the status Active for this DTC?

      Yes 

      • Go To  2

      No 

      • Perform the INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Refer to INTERMITTENT DTC .
  2. FUEL PUMP RELAY 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Replace the Fuel Pump Relay (in the Power Distribution Center) with a known good relay.
    3. Turn the ignition on.
    4. With the scan tool, erase DTCs in the PCM.
    5. Start the engine or crank the engine for 10 seconds.
    6. With the scan tool, select View DTCs.

      Did the DTC return?

      Yes 

      • Go To  3.

      No 

  3. POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect the PCM C1 harness connector.
    3. Measure the resistance between the (K31) Fuel Pump Control circuit and all other circuits at the PCM C1 harness connector.

      Is the resistance above 10k Ohms between the (K31) Fuel Pump Control circuit and all other circuits?

      Yes 

      • Replace the Powertrain Control Module in accordance with the service information. Refer to REMOVAL .
      • Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .

      No 

      • Go To  4
  4. POWER DISTRIBUTION CENTER (PDC) 
    1. Disconnect the PDC harness connectors.
    2. Measure the resistance between the (K31) Fuel Pump Control circuit and all other circuits at the PCM C1 harness connector.

      Is the resistance above 10k Ohms between the (K31) Fuel Pump Control circuit and all other circuits?

      Yes 

      • Replace the Power Distribution Center (PDC) in accordance with the service information.
      • Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .

      No 

      • Repair the (K31) Fuel Pump Control circuit for a short to the circuit that measured below 10k Ohms.
      • Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
