Diagnostic Test

  1. DTC IS ACTIVE 
    1. Ignition on, engine not running.
    2. With the scan tool, erase DTCs in the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
    3. Start the engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperature.
    4. With the scan tool, select View DTCs.

      Is the status Active for this DTC?

      Yes 

      • Go To  2

      No 

      • Perform the INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Refer to INTERMITTENT DTC .
  2. SCR RELAY 2 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Use a known good relay in place of the SCR Relay 2 in the Auxiliary PDC.
    3. Ignition on, engine not running.
    4. With the scan tool, erase DTCs in the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
    5. Start the engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperature.
    6. With the scan tool, select View DTCs.

      Does the DTC return?

      Yes 

      • Go To  3

      No 

  3. CHECK THE (K402) SCR RELAY 2 CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Remove the SCR Relay 2.
    3. Disconnect the PCM C1 harness connector.
    4. Measure the voltage on the (K402) SCR Relay 2 Control circuit at the PCM C1 harness connector.

      Is there voltage present?

      Yes 

      • Go To  4

      No 

      • Replace the Powertrain Control Module in accordance with the service information. Refer to REMOVAL .
      • Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
  4. AUXILIARY PDC 
    1. Disconnect the Auxiliary PDC C2 harness connector.
    2. Measure the voltage on the (K402) SCR Relay 2 Control circuit at the PCM C1 harness connector.

      Is there voltage present?

      Yes 

      • Repair the (K402) SCR Relay 2 Control circuit (between the Auxiliary PDC and the PCM) for a short to voltage.
      • Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .

      No 

      • Replace the Auxiliary Power Distribution Center in accordance with the service information.
      • Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
