Diagnostic Test

  1. CHECK THE FUEL INJECTOR CORRECTION CODES IN THE PCM 
    NOTE:

    If there are any Fuel Injector DTCs present, perform the Diagnostics for those DTCs before proceeding with this one.

    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Locate and record the correction code for the Fuel Injector (related to this DTC). The Injector correction codes are located on top of the Injectors.
    3. Turn the ignition on, engine not running.
    4. With the scan tool, read the Fuel Injector correction code stored in the PCM.
    5. Compare Fuel Injector correction code with the code programmed in the scan tool.

      Is the Fuel Injector calibrated correctly?

      Yes 

      • Go To  2

      No 

      • Program the Fuel Injector correction code (related to this DTC) with the scan tool into the PCM. The Fuel Injector correction codes are located on top of the Injectors.
      • Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .
  2. CHECK THE INTAKE SYSTEM FOR LEAKS OR RESTRICTIONS 
    1. Check the entire intake system for a leak or restriction.

      Were any problems found?

      Yes 

      • Perform the appropriate repair in accordance with the service information.
      • Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .

      No 

      • Go To  3
  3. CHECK THE FUEL DELIVERY SYSTEM 
    1. Perform the CHECKING THE FUEL DELIVERY SYSTEM diagnostic procedure. Refer to DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING .

      Were any problems found?

      Yes 

      • Perform the appropriate repair in accordance with the service information.
      • Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .

      No 

      • Go To  4
  4. CHECK THE ENGINE MECHANICAL SYSTEM 
    1. Perform the CHECKING THE ENGINE MECHANICAL SYSTEM diagnostic procedure. Refer to DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING .

      Were any problems found?

      Yes 

      • Perform the appropriate repair in accordance with the service information.
      • Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .

      No 

      • Go To  5
  5. POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Replace the Fuel Injector (related to this DTC) in accordance with the service information. Program the correction code for this injector into the Powertrain Control Module.
      NOTE:

      The new Fuel Injector correction code is located on top of the injector.

    3. Turn the ignition on.
    4. With the scan tool, Erase DTCs.
    5. Start the engine. Allow the engine to reach normal operating
    6. Monitor the scan tool for at least two minutes.
    7. With the scan tool, View DTCs.

      Did the DTC return as active?

      Yes 

      • Replace the Powertrain Control Module in accordance with the service information. Refer to REMOVAL .
      • Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to PCM VERIFICATION TEST .

      No
