Sensor, Water In Fuel: Description: Description

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2014 RAM 1500. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The Water In Fuel (WIF) sensor is located in the fuel filter housing. The WIF sensor detects the presence of water in the fuel. If water is present in the fuel, a signal is sent to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and the PCM signals the instrument cluster, over the CAN bus, to illuminate the water in fuel warning. The WIF sensor is not a serviceable component.
