- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Drain the cooling system. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Lower the vehicle.
- Remove the engine cover (1).
- Disconnect the Charge Air Cooler (CAC) hose at resonator (3).
- Remove the CAC hose (2) from the turbocharger.
- Release clips (1) and remove the charge air resonator (3).
- Remove air cleaner body and intake air tube. Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL .
- Remove bolts (2) and the fuel injection pump blocker shield (1).
- Remove safety clips (3, 4) and disconnect the low pressure supply (5) and return (2) lines at manifold. Refer to FITTING, QUICK CONNECT .
- Remove bolt securing the coolant tube-to fuel line bracket.
- Remove nuts and the low pressure supply (2) and return (1) line bracket from cylinder head cover.
- Disconnect the brake booster vacuum hose.
- Disconnect the two heater hoses at bulk head.
- Remove the serpentine belt. Refer to BELT, SERPENTINE, REMOVAL .
- Raise and support the vehicle.NOTE:
Removal of the A/C compressor does not require the refrigerant to be evacuated.
- Remove the bolts (2 and 5) that secure the A/C compressor (6) to the A/C compressor bracket (7).
- Lower the vehicle.
- Disconnect the A/C clutch wire harness connector (1).
- Support the A/C compressor, remove the nut (4) and stud (3) that secures the A/C compressor to the bracket and position aside the compressor.
- Remove the oil cooler assembly. Refer to ADAPTER, OIL COOLER, REMOVAL .
- Disconnect glow plug wire harness connector (1).
- Disconnect the Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor wire harness connector (3).
- Remove the fuel injectors. Refer to INJECTOR(S), FUEL, REMOVAL .
- Loosen bolts (1) and remove the left cylinder head cover (2).
