Diagnostic Test
- DETERMINE ACTIVE OR STORED DTC NOTE:
Make sure that the battery is fully charged.
NOTE:The scan tool, SRS Load Tool Kit (special tool #8443A, SRS Load Tool), and DVOM are required to perform the following test.
- Turn the ignition on.
Select ACTIVE or STORED DTC:
ACTIVE DTC
- Go To 2
STORED DTC
- Perform the AIRBAG SYSTEM INTERMITTENT TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Turn the ignition on.
- CHECK FOR OPEN SQUIB CIRCUITS IN PASSENGER AIRBAG
WARNING:
Turn the ignition off, disconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
- Disconnect the Passenger Airbag Squib connectors.WARNING:
Do not place an intact non-deployed airbag face down on a hard surface, the airbag propels into the air if accidentally deployed. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
NOTE:Check connectors - Clean and repair as necessary.
- Connect the SRS Load Tool Kit (special tool #8443A, SRS Load Tool) and the SRS Load Tool Jumper (special tool #8443-8, Jumper, SRS Load) to the Passenger Airbag Squib connectors.WARNING:
Turn the ignition on, then reconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
- With the scan tool, read the active ORC DTCs.
Does the scan tool display: B1B0E-PASSENGER AIRBAG SQUIB CIRCUIT OPEN?
Yes
- Go To 3
No
- Replace the Passenger Airbag in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the AIRBAG SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Disconnect the Passenger Airbag Squib connectors.
- CHECK (R64) PASSENGER SQUIB 2 LINE 1 CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
WARNING:
Turn the ignition off, disconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
- Disconnect the SRS Load Tool Kit (special tool #8443A, SRS Load Tool) and Jumper from the Passenger Airbag Squib connectors.
- Disconnect the ORC connectors.NOTE:
Check connectors - Clean and repair as necessary.
- Connect the SRS Load Tool adaptor (special tool #8443-25, 56 Way ACM Adapter) to the ORC connectors.
- Measure the resistance of the (R64) Passenger Squib 2 Line 1 circuit between the Passenger Airbag Squib connector and the SRS Load Tool adaptor (special tool #8443-25, 56 Way ACM Adapter) cavity 24-19.
Is the resistance below 1.0 Ohm?
Yes
- Go To 4
No
- Repair the (R64) Passenger Squib 2 Line 1 circuit for an open.
- Perform the AIRBAG SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- CHECK (R62) PASSENGER SQUIB 2 LINE 2 CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Measure the resistance of the (R62) Passenger Squib 2 Line 2 circuit between the Passenger Airbag Squib connector and the SRS Load Tool adaptor (special tool #8443-25, 56 Way ACM Adapter) cavity 24-20.
Is the resistance below 1.0 Ohm?
Yes
WARNING:Turn the ignition on, then reconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
WARNING:If the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) is dropped at any time, it must be replaced. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
- Replace the ORC in accordance with Service Information.
- Perform the AIRBAG SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
No
- Repair the (R62) Passenger Squib 2 Line 2 circuit for an open.
- Perform the AIRBAG SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Measure the resistance of the (R62) Passenger Squib 2 Line 2 circuit between the Passenger Airbag Squib connector and the SRS Load Tool adaptor (special tool #8443-25, 56 Way ACM Adapter) cavity 24-20.
