Diagnostic Test

- ACTIVE DTC
- Ignition on, engine not running.
- Record freeze frame data and clear DTCs.
- Turn the ignition off for 75 seconds.
- Start the engine and let idle for up to two minutes.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Did the DTC reset?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- CHECK FOR HIGH RESISTANCE IN THE (K398) FUEL CONTROL ACTUATOR DRIVER CIRCUIT
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the Fuel Control Actuator harness connector.
- Disconnect the PCM C1 harness connector.NOTE:
Check connectors - Clean/repair as necessary.
- Measure the resistance of the (K398) FCA Driver circuit between the Fuel Control Actuator harness connector and the PCM C1 harness connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Go To 3
No
- Repair the (K398) Fuel Control Actuator Driver circuit for an open or high resistance.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST - 6.7L. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- CHECK FOR HIGH RESISTANCE IN THE (K396) FUEL CONTROL ACTUATOR RETURN CIRCUIT
- Measure the resistance of the (K396) FCA Return circuit between the Fuel Control Actuator harness connector and the PCM C1 harness connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Go To 4
No
- Repair the (K396) FCA Return circuit for an open or high resistance.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST - 6.7L. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Measure the resistance of the (K396) FCA Return circuit between the Fuel Control Actuator harness connector and the PCM C1 harness connector.
- FUEL CONTROL ACTUATOR
- Reconnect the PCM C1 harness connector.
- Replace the Fuel Control Actuator in accordance with the service information.
- Turn the ignition on and clear any DTCs.
- Start the engine and let idle for at least two minutes.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Did the DTC reset?
Yes
- Replace and program the Powertrain Control Module in accordance with the service information.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST - 6.7L. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
No
- Test complete.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST - 6.7L. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
