Diagnostic Test

  1. ACTIVE DTC 
    NOTE:

    If DTCs P0192, P0193, P0201, P0202, P0203, P0204, P0205, or P0206, are present, repair those DTCs before proceeding.

    1. Engine running.
    2. With the scan tool check for active DTCs and listen for an engine knock.

      Is the DTC active and engine knocking?

      Yes 

      • Go To  2

      No 

  2. CHECKING FOR A LEAKING FUEL INJECTOR 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Use the fuel system leak tester blocking tool to block off Fuel Injector 6.
    3. Start the engine and let idle for one minute then operate engine under conditions in which complaint(s) occur.

      Does the knock go away?

      Yes 

      • Replace the Fuel Injector. If this DTC was accompanied by a Crankcase Pressure Sensor DTC, damage to the cylinder may have occurred.
      • Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST - 6.7L. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

      No 

      • Diagnose the engine for a mechanical failure.
      • Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST - 6.7L. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
