Diagnostic Test

  1. ACTIVE DTC 
    1. Turn the ignition on and test drive the vehicle with ESS enabled.
    2. With the scan tool, view PCM DTCs.

      Is the DTC active?

      Yes 

      • Go To  2

      No 

  2. CHECK THE (G70) HOOD AJAR SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect the Hood Ajar Switch (Hood Latch) harness connector.
    3. Disconnect the BCM harness connector A.
    4. Measure the resistance of the (G70) Hood Ajar Switch Sense circuit between the Hood Ajar Switch harness connector and the BCM harness connector A.

      Is the resistance below 5.0 Ohms?

      Yes 

      • Go To  3

      No 

      • Repair the (K806) Engine Hood Switch 2 Signal circuit for a short to ground.
      • Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  3. CHECK THE (G931) SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN 
    1. Measure the resistance of the (G931) Sensor Ground circuit between the Hood Ajar Switch harness connector and the BCM harness connector A.

      Is the resistance below 5.0 Ohms?

      Yes 

      • Go To

      No 

      • Repair the (K915) Sensor Ground circuit for a short to ground.
      • Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  4. CHECK THE HOOD AJAR SWITCH 
    1. Depress the plunger of the hood ajar switch and measure the resistance between the two terminals of the switch.

      Is the resistance approximately 1000 Ohms?

      Yes 

      • Go To  5

      No 

      • Replace the Hood Ajar Switch.
      • Perform the PCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  5. BODY CONTROL MODULE 
    1. Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors between the Hood Ajar Switch and the Body Control Module.
    2. Look for any chafed, pierced, pinched, or partially broken wires.
    3. Look for broken, bent, pushed out or corroded terminals.
    4. Perform any Technical Service Bulletins that may apply.

      Were any problems found?

      Yes 

      No 

      • Replace the Body Control Module in accordance with the service information.
      • Perform the BCM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
