Diagnostic Test

- ACTIVE DTC NOTE:
If DTC P0627 is present, repair that DTC before proceeding with this test.
- Ignition on, engine not running.
- With the scan tool, select View DTCs.
Is the DTC Active at this time?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- CHECK THE (N1) FPCM MOTOR FEED CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the FPCM harness connector.
- Remove the Fuel Pump Relay.
- Measure the resistance between ground and the (N1) FPCM Motor Feed circuit at the FPCM harness connector.
Is the resistance < 10k ohms?
Yes
- Repair the short to ground in the (N1) FPCM Motor Feed circuit.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
No
- Go To 3
- CHECK THE (N1) FPCM MOTOR FEED CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN OR HIGH RESISTANCE
- Turn the ignition off.
- Measure the resistance of the (N1) FPCM Motor Feed circuit from the C1 PCM harness connector to the appropriate terminal of the Fuel Pump Relay socket in the PDC.
Is the resistance below 5.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Go To 4
No
- Repair the (K31) Fuel Pump Control circuit for an open or high resistance.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE
- Reconnect the Fuel Pump relay.
- Leave the FPCM harness connector disconnected.
- Turn the ignition on, engine not running.
- With the scan tool, begin the Variable Speed Fuel Pump Relay Actuation Test.
- Measure the voltage of the (N1) FPCM Motor Feed circuit.
Is the voltage the same as battery voltage?
Yes
- Replace the Fuel Pump Control Module.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
No
- Replace the Powertrain Control Module.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
