Theory Of Operation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2013 RAM 3500 HD and 2013 RAM 2500 HD. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The Camera is activated when the ignition switch is in the RUN position. The (F924) circuit supplies power to the camera. The camera sends a video signal (std. NTSC i.e. TV) to the Radio Receiver Module (RRM), using circuits (X970) camera signal, (X971) signal return and (X972) camera sheild, which displays on the Radio Receiver Module (RRM) screen. The screen toggles functions displaying only one kind of image at a time. And in reverse, the rear camera has priority. The (Z948) circuit is ground for the system.

NOTE:

Before performing tests it is important to check the vehicle sales codes or build configuration to verify if the Tailgate Camera or the optional Center High Mounted Stop Lamp (Chmsl) Camera supplies the image displayed on the Radio (RRM) screen.
