6.7L Diesel

NOTE:

Thermostats for the Cummins diesel, while physically interchangeable, should not be mixed and matched. For model year 2013, the 6.7L diesel engine uses a 190° Fahrenheit thermostat. Confirm the temperature stamp on the thermostat rim prior to removal or installation.

WARNING:

Do not loosen the radiator draincock with the system hot and pressurized. Serious burns from the coolant can occur.

  1. Disconnect both negative battery cables.
  2. Remove the engine oil dip stick (3).
  3. Remove fasteners (1) and the engine cover (2).
  4. Drain the cooling system. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  5. Remove the EGR cooler cross over tube (1). Refer to TUBE, EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION (EGR), CROSSOVER, REMOVAL .
  6. Remove the radiator hose clamp and hose from the thermostat housing.

  7. Remove bolts (2) and the heat shield (1).

  8. Remove bolts (1) and the thermostat housing (2).

  9. Remove the thermostat (1) and discard O-ring seal (2).
