6.7L Diesel

NOTE:
Thermostats for the Cummins diesel, while physically interchangeable, should not be mixed and matched. For model year 2013, the 6.7L diesel engine uses a 190° Fahrenheit thermostat. Confirm the temperature stamp on the thermostat rim prior to removal or installation.
- Clean the mating surfaces of the thermostat housing and clean the thermostat seat groove at the top of the thermostat housing.
- Using a new O-ring seal (2), install the thermostat (1) into the groove in the top of the cylinder head.
- Install the thermostat housing (2). Tighten the bolts (1) to 10 N.m (89 in. lbs.).
- Install the heat shield (2). Tighten bolts (1) to 9 N.m (97 in. lbs.).
- Install the radiator upper hose and clamp.
- Install the EGR cross over tube. Refer to TUBE, EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION (EGR), CROSSOVER, INSTALLATION .
- Fill the cooling system. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Install the engine cover (2) and fasteners (1, 4).
- Install the engine oil dip stick (3).
- Connect both negative battery cables.
- Start the engine and check for any coolant leaks. Run engine to check for proper thermostat operation.
