D2 - Installation
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2013 RAM 3500 HD and 2013 RAM 2500 HD. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Clean the sealing surfaces of the cylinder block and oil pan with a suitable cleaner.
- Clean the oil pan.
- Clean the oil pan T-joints.
- Fill the T-joint between the pan rail/gear housing and pan rail/rear seal retainer with sealant. Use Mopar® Silicone Rubber Adhesive Sealant or equivalent.
- Position the new oil pan gasket (7) onto oil pan.
- Place suction tube (4) in oil pan and guide them into place. Using a new tube-to-block gasket (2), install the suction tube (4). Tighten the bolts (1 and 3) to 24 N.m (18 ft. lbs.).
- Install the oil pan (6) and tighten bolts finger tight.
- Starting from the center and working outward, tighten the oil pan bolts to 28 N.m (21 ft. lbs.).
- Install the oil drip tray (1) and retainers.
- If necessary, straighten tab (1) and install brake line retainer (2).
- Lower the vehicle.
- Lower the engine into the motor mounts.
- Raise the vehicle.
- Tighten the right side and left side motor mount through bolts to 136 N.m (100 ft. lbs.).
- Lower the vehicle.
- Remove the Drive Line Fixture (special tool #8534B, Fixture, Driveline Support).
- Remove bolts and the (special tool #10474, Brackets, Engine Lifting).
- If equipped, install the left generator mounting bracket and generator. Refer to GENERATOR, INSTALLATION .
- Make sure that the fan shroud seal is properly seated in the radiator fan shroud and that it is not out of position causing excessive contact with the radiator coolant tubes.
- Install the bolt securing upper radiator hose support bracket and securely tighten.
- Install the engine oil fill cap.
- Install the air cleaner body. Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER, INSTALLATION, 6.7L .
- Install the engine cover (2) and fasteners (1, 4).
- Install the engine oil dipstick (3).
- Connect both negative battery cables.
- Fill the crankcase with new engine oil.
- Start engine and check for leaks. Stop engine, check oil level, and adjust, if necessary.
