Diagnostic Test

  1. DTC IS ACTIVE 
    1. Turn the ignition on.
    2. With the scan tool, erase DTCs in the PCM.
    3. Test drive the vehicle in Start/Stop mode. Make several complete stops, and Auto-Restart attempts.
    4. Turn the ignition on.
    5. With the scan tool, select View DTCs.

      Is the status Active for this DTC?

      Yes 

      • Go To  2

      No 

  2. CHECK THE CONDITION OF THE BATTERY AND STARTER CONNECTIONS 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Inspect the Battery Cables, Posts and Starter Motor connections for signs of corrosion or a poor connection.

      Were any problems found?

      Yes 

      No 

      • Go To  3
  3. CHECK THE BATTERY 
    1. Using the Battery Charger/Tester, check the condition of the Battery.

      Did the Battery test good?

      Yes 

      • Go To  4

      No 

      • Replace the Battery in accordance with the service information.
      • Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  4. CHECK THE FUEL DELIVERY SYSTEM 
    1. Perform the CHECKING THE FUEL DELIVERY SYSTEM diagnostic procedure. Refer to DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING .

      Were any problems found?

      Yes 

      No 

      • Go To  5
  5. CHECK THE ENGINE MECHANICAL SYSTEM 
    1. Perform the CHECKING THE ENGINE MECHANICAL SYSTEM diagnostic procedure. Refer to DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING .

      Were any problems found?

      Yes 

      • Perform the appropriate repair.
      • Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

      No 

      • Replace the Starter Motor in accordance with the service information.
      • Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
