- Remove the steering knuckle. Refer to KNUCKLE, Steering , Removal .
- Remove the axle shaft from the axle. Refer to appropriate DRIVELINE/AXLES article.
- Position Ball Joint Installer (special tool #6761, Installer, Ball Joint) (RECEIVER) (2) and Remover/ Installer (special tool #8445-3, Remover, Ball Joint) (DRIVER) (4) with Ball Joint Press (special tool #C-4212F, Press, Ball Joint) (1) as shown in illustration to remove upper ball stud.
